Three contemporary Florida artists use alternative processes to create unique work based on drawing and memory. Nathan Beard explores his family’s lineage through a labor-intensive process using tape to create undulating layers of painted patterns. Fiber artist Akiko Kotani creates drawings with silk thread, explores mark-making on glass, and crochets “melting walls” from plastic. Rob Tarbell harnesses the elusive medium of smoke to create ethereal portraits on paper and porcelain.
