September 17 – EXTENDED through Sunday, December 18, 2022
North and Center Galleries
Opening its doors in 2002, the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art is celebrating 20 years of serving the community with a series of exhibitions that highlights the museum’s masterworks, Florida artists, and its award-winning architecture. This fall marks the finale of this year-long celebration with exhibitions that highlight local architectural wonders, including LRMA, The Dalí Museum, and Florida Polytechnic University, and builds on our museum’s legacy through architecture-inspired works from the permanent collection.
Building Legacies complements LRMA’s special exhibition Visioning Structure, an overview of the career of LRMA’s own architect Edward C. Hoffman, Jr., AIA Highlights from the museum’s original collection include architectural commissions and art in public places by Abraham Rattner, Allen Leepa, and Esther Gentle. Building on this foundation, contemporary works by local and nationally known artists like Rocky Bridges, Charles Parkhill, Los Carpinteros, Terry Winters, and others, explore the idea of structure and design to express a sense of place by merging the traditional elements of fine art with reclaimed architectural materials.
