Kim Kirchman: An Allegory of Spring

January 20 – April 28
Atrium and Center Galleries

Offering the viewer a glimpse into the profound mind and journey of a native Floridian, with a fierce and unwavering spirit, Kim Kirchman embodies aesthetic rebellion on the multifaceted journey of her wildly successful career. Her desire to explore the world (both inner and outer) through careful precision and ornamentation, Kirchman’s work both in and outside the classroom has left an indelible mark on the Tampa Bay region and beyond, as she consistently reinforces the profound impact of her environment on her creative identity.

While this exhibition serves as a culmination to celebrate Kim Kirchman’s career at St. Petersburg College, it’s important to recognize that like spring itself, she embarks on a revolution and a rebirth into her next chapter. Much like the wildflowers that have influenced her throughout her life, she blossoms into the allegory of her next season. The Leepa Rattner Museum of Art is honored to present the life and work of Kim Kirchman, a rebel against convention and a master of ornament.
