Saumitra Chandratreya: Tender Urge

Saumitra Chandratreya: Tender Urge

May 17 – July 20, 2025

Center Gallery

Saumitra Chandratreya: Tender Urge examines the intersection of intimacy, memory, and materiality through a profoundly intimate perspective. Emerging from an unanticipated experience—an injury that required the artist’s partner to wrap his healing arm in plastic—this body of work transforms a fragile, utilitarian object into a poignant archive of time, longing, and connection. The tension between the delicate plastic wrap and the vulnerability of the human body becomes a metaphor for desire, nostalgia, and the fleeting nature of experience. Featuring a mix of past and present works, this exhibition invites viewers into an evolving conversation on preservation, transformation, and the beauty found in everyday materials.
