LRMA proudly presents Babs Reingold: Forest Bathing as part of Time Changes Everything: Five Artists, Five Voices. Reingold’s immersive installation reflects a decades-long exploration of the relationship between humans and the natural world. Based in St. Petersburg, FL, Reingold brings together ecological awareness, material sensitivity, and conceptual inquiry in a practice that has evolved from traditional forms into spatial, installation-based environments. The exhibition features two series, Hair Nest and Lost Trees, which together create a contemplative, multi-sensory experience that invites viewers to consider themes of fragility, resilience, and transformation.
Forest Bathing includes a haunting “ghost forest” composed of sculptural forms made from salvaged wood, silk organza, stone, graphite, and the artist’s own collected hair. These materials are transformed into tree-like structures and grounded installations that evoke systems of growth, decay, and regeneration. The Lost Trees series honors individual trees marked by time and environmental stress, while Hair Nest introduces an intimate, bodily dimension, linking human presence to the natural world. Through subtle interplay of light, shadow, and sound, Reingold creates a meditative environment that underscores the urgency of climate change while offering a space for reflection, emphasizing the deep interconnectedness between ecological systems and human experience.
