Join LRMA’s founding director and first curator Lynn Whitelaw as he explores the life and work of master printmaker Esther Gentle in support of the exhibition Esther Gentle: The Propagated Image.

Esther Gentle (1899–1991) spent her career in the business of working with modern masters like Stuart Davis, Abraham Rattner, and Milton Avery making one image into many. A sculptor, painter, printmaker, and gallery owner, she worked at a moment when American artists were rethinking what it meant to reproduce a work of art.
